Age verification

Many schemes offer cards that can be used to prove your age. Numerous local authorities and colleges offer card programs.

Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS).

The Proof of Age Standards Scheme is a national scheme to verify age. You should ensure that all proof of age cards you receive have the PASS hologram. It meets the PASS criteria.

Combined local authority/Young Scot Card

Dialogue Youth is a project funded by the Scottish Government. This project has produced a multi-purpose proof card of age for young people between 12 and 18.

The cards are developed in different areas and given different names. However, all include a photograph as well as a PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme). This allows you to use your card to prove your age in order to buy age-restricted products and services.

The cards can be used to prove your age and allow you to access local services such as libraries, schools meal/cashless catering, and leisure facilities. The card can be used to access Young Scot services and discounts, both local and national.
